Frequently asked questions on Crowns and Bridges

Many people are unfamiliar with what Crowns and Bridges are. We want to provide you a short review of some of the most asked questions.

What are Crowns and Bridges?
  • Should you have a tooth that is discolored, badly shaped, or broken, you may need a crown to cover and restore it to it's normal shape and size. Dr. Sambursky also uses crowns to cover large fillings of to restore an implant.

  • If you are missing one or more teeth, you'll notice a difference in chewing and speaking - in additional to a less that ideal appearance. Dr. Sambursky can correct this with a bridge that helps maintain the shape of your face, as well as alleviating the stress in your bite with artificial replacement teeth. Depending on the support of surrounding teeth, Dr. Sambursky can recommend different types of the bridges. A bridge can be bonded onto the teeth. This is sometimes called a Maryland bridge. Another type of bridge is cemented in with fluoride release cement. You could be a candidate for a removable bridge, which you can put in and out yourself. An implant bridge may also be an option for you. The implants are placed, an abutment is attached to the implant, and then a crown is cemented on to the abutment.
